Shatta Wale Opens Up on Fallout With Burna Boy, Blames False Relationship Rumour
Ghanaian dancehall star Charles Nii Armah Mensah, widely known as Shatta Wale, has finally spoken about the circumstances that led to the collapse of his friendship with Nigerian Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy. According to the musician, a false allegation involving Burna Boy's girlfriend created a rift that neither of them was able to overcome.
Speaking during an interview on the Brunch podcast, Shatta Wale dismissed claims that he had an affair with Burna Boy's partner, insisting the story was completely fabricated. He alleged that individuals from his former inner circle deliberately spread the rumour in an attempt to tarnish his image and drive a wedge between the two musicians.
The dancehall artiste explained that the allegation reached Burna Boy before he had the opportunity to tell his side of the story. He believes the misinformation fueled mistrust and ultimately caused communication between them to break down, bringing their once-close relationship to an abrupt end.
Reflecting on their past, Shatta Wale described his relationship with Burna Boy as one built on genuine friendship and mutual respect rather than industry connections. He said they shared a brotherly bond that extended beyond music and business.
Shatta Wale also recounted the support he offered Burna Boy and his family whenever they visited Ghana. According to him, he helped them settle in by arranging accommodation and providing assistance, including extending hospitality to Burna Boy's mother during their stay.
His comments offer fresh insight into one of the entertainment industry's most talked-about fallouts, with Shatta Wale maintaining that false rumours not personal betrayal were at the heart of the misunderstanding that ended their friendship.
