Shatta Wale Explains Why His KNUST Show Was Called Off
Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has explained the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of his planned performance at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
The artiste revealed that the decision was made following security concerns raised by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander.
According to Shatta Wale, the police assessed the venue chosen for the event and concluded that it was not spacious enough to safely contain the large number of fans expected to attend his performance.
He explained that he was eager to entertain his supporters in Kumasi and had even considered performing at Lienda Ville Hostel because of the strong following he enjoys in the Ashanti Region.
However, the security authorities reportedly advised him to cancel the event to prevent possible crowd-control challenges and ensure the safety of attendees.
Speaking during a TikTok live session, Shatta Wale made it clear that the cancellation was not because he was unwilling to perform. Rather, he said the decision was necessary because the safety of fans and everyone involved had to take priority.
The dancehall musician also called on event organisers to pay greater attention to venue capacity and security arrangements when planning shows involving artistes who attract large crowds.
