Made in Lagos
will be the fourth body of work coming from Wizkid after the release of his debut album, Superstar in 2011, ''Ayo'' in 2014 and the internationally distributed EP, Sounds From The Other Side in 2017.

The impact of his Sounds From The Other Side album

The Made in Lagos album is Wizkid's attempt at regaining hold of the home scene after his foray into international waters with the Sounds From The Other Side album released last year.

Released and distributed under RCA Records/Sony Music International, SFTOS sold 6,286 units in its first week. That’s broken down into 2,672 pure album purchase, 6,079 song downloads, 4,510,897 song streams. All of these made up the first week sales for Wizkid.

And while back home, the debate surrounding the EP was largely in the negative, cracking the American market will never be easy for a non-white artist not born in North America.

Yes, while Sounds From The Other Side wasn't a masterpiece or perfect with regards to marketing we should be aware that it has pushed the narrative of African music in North America forward.

And that narrative has seen Wizkid sell out the 20,000 capacity O2 Arena this year, emerge as an ambassador for Cirocannounce new US tour dates, with Afrobeats now emerging far bigger on the American music radar.

Despite trying to conquer new grounds, Wizkid understands that he cannot neglect his home base especially has the likes of Davido has become a dominant force with stellar singles in 2017 that shot his profile into winning the artist of the year at the 2018 Headies Awards.

Recognising this, Wizkid returned home and has released a number of banging singles and collaborations including ManyaNowo with DJ Spinall, the Starboy collaboration SocoKanawith Olamide and Fake Love with Duncan Mighty, that have all been well received and become chart toppers.

Made in Lagos, the ten track EP, is now scheduled to be released on October 1st and his legion of fans are more excited than ever.
