"Let Love Lead" NGO is Powering Ghana’s Post-Flood National Cleaning Days

In the wake of recent devastating floods that swept through parts of the nation, a massive, coordinated response is underway to secure communities and protect lives. Leading the charge on the civilian and humanitarian front is the renowned Ghanaian non-governmental organization, Let Love Lead, founded and spearheaded by the highly respected philanthropist, security expert, and businessman, Big Dawood (born Dawood Akwesi Agyeman).

This Friday, July 10, 2026, the "Let Love Lead" team hit the ground running, launching a powerful partnership with the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly (under the leadership of Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Haruna Mohammed Awal) to kickstart the government-declared National General Cleaning Days.

Following torrential rains on June 29 that triggered widespread displacement and severe disruptions across Accra and other regions, the Government of Ghana, under the Post-Flood Mitigation Committee, officially designated Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, as National General Cleaning Days. Under the urgent theme, “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods,” the two-day national exercise aims to heavily desilt choked drains, sweep sand and debris from major highways, and clear out public spaces before further heavy seasonal rains hit.
While all public officials, security agencies, and waste management companies were directed to lead Friday's frontline operations, Let Love Lead proved that effective disaster mitigation requires active civic partnership.

Let Love Lead on the Frontlines with Ayawaso North

Big Dawood and his dedicated team of volunteers spent the day working hand-in-hand with municipal workers and local security personnel in the Ayawaso North Municipality—an area highly vulnerable to drainage challenges. Together, they cleared massive amounts of silt from choked sewers, swept streets, and managed waste collection points to ensure proper, immediate disposal so that debris would not wash back into local waterways.

To cement their long-term commitment to the community, Let Love Lead also made a substantial financial and resource donation directly to the Municipal Assembly, supporting their operational capacity for ongoing environmental management.

"A clean community is everyone's responsibility. Many of these post-flood disasters can be prevented if we alter how we handle our waste and proactively care for our drainage channels," Big Dawood previously noted during a post-flood assessment, emphasizing that preventive action remains the strongest defense against climate disasters.

This large-scale mobilization is no standalone event. Over the past four years, Let Love Lead has established itself as one of the most consistent forces for sanitation reform in Accra. From historic annual cleanup drives spanning from the Palace Mall in Spintex to Baatsonaa, to massive drain-clearing exercises from the Nima-Mamobi gutter down to the Paloma Hotel area, the NGO has consistently used civic action to honor the memory of past flood victims and protect the living.
