Spider-Man has swung to brand-new heights as Tom Holland's fourth solo film, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," has officially become the biggest movie of 2026 and broken the all-time box office opening record.

The film, which opened in cinemas worldwide on July 31, 2026, collected a stunning $360 million in North America alone in its debut weekend, surpassing "Avengers: Endgame's" $357 million record from 2019 to become the largest domestic opening weekend in history. Globally, it opened with $932 million and in just seven days has crossed $1.15 billion, making it Sony Pictures' highest-grossing film ever.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Brand New Day marks a major reset for Peter Parker. After the events of "No Way Home," Peter is now completely alone, protecting New York City anonymously while his best friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) finish college at MIT. The story takes a street-level turn as he faces a powerful new invisible threat.

The film also introduces major new faces to the MCU. Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle / The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner / Hulk, Florence Pugh appears as Yelena Belova, and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink makes her Marvel debut as Jean Grey — a role that was kept secret until release.
