We were paid GHC400 for our first show with Shatta Wale – R2bees reveals
Tema-based music duo, R2bees has revealed in a latest interview that they were paid a sum of GHC400 for their first ever public show with Shatta Wale.
Recounting the early stages of the career which has spanned a decade, R2bees revealed that they were paid GH¢400 for the group to perform to their hit single ‘Yawa Girl’ at a show which was held in Cape Coast.
According to them, they were billed with Shatta Wale to perform at the same event in Cape Coast.
“I remember our first show was at Cape Coast and it was with Shatta Wale but then he was called Bandana and we were paid 400 Ghana cedis,” they made this shocking revelation in an interview on Joy FM’s Cosmopolitan Mix show with Doreen Andoh.
“That’s when we realized we had to take the music thing serious. “Yawa Girl” was hard but we decided to do more commercial song,” he added.
In the same interview, Omar Sterling popularly known as Paedae noted that not relying on bloggers have been their tradition from day one.
“I would never send you a song to post for me. [The reason is] I trust the music so much and I believe it will do just right.”
“I don’t think we went through hardships because we started our record label. We don’t know people. We don’t get a lot of good press. We don’t care about all these things. We believe in our music. It’s all about the fans. It’s always been all hands-on board if we are to give gratitude to anyone.”
