Eazzy cautions Shatta Wale,Medikal to stop lying about their earnings
Ghanaian musician, Mildred Ashong, popularly known as Eazzy has advised fellow musicians like Shatta Wale and Medikal to stop bragging and lying about their earnings so as to receive the help they need in the industry.
On Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo’ After drive show with DJ Advicer, the songstress told the host who wanted to know whether artistes really get paid the monies they claim to receive to perform at shows that unlike some other musicians, she has not received exorbitant sums of money or seen anyone receive such huge sums to perform at shows.
“I haven’t received GH¢90,000 or GH¢100,000 from anybody and I haven’t seen anyone or seen a contract that says that with any of my colleagues so I can’t say that for sure. But if someone has gotten that amount, that’s great, that perfect, but I haven’t received a 100,000ghc so I can’t come and sit here and say that I have. From who?,” she stated.
She implored her colleagues in the music industry to be transparent about the true state of their situation in order to attract the needed support from the appropriate sources.
“Sometimes we have to speak the truth. I feel like the industry is calling for help from DJs, event and corporate Ghana and all, but we don’t speak the truth. So if you are there saying you get paid a 150,000 per a show and somebody is expecting you to do something with your brand, like be able to shoot about three videos in Nigeria and you come and complain that you can’t, then it’s crazy,” she asserted.
“Let the truth be told that as artistes we are not making money the way we are supposed to make in our pockets so that the government can also put in place laws that can help us in terms of royalty placements.Just as we’ve been able to advocate and now we have the 80% Ghanaian music airplay and 20% world music and airplay, that’s the way to go but this constant bragging and lying won’t get us anywhere,” she added.
