I Don’t Want to Be Signed to Any Record Label – Moliy Declares Independence in Music Journey

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Moliy has made it clear that she is not interested in signing to any record label at this stage of her career.

The Afro-fusion artist, known for her unique sound and empowering lyrics, says she prefers to maintain full creative control over her music and brand.

In a recent interview, Moliy opened up about her decision to remain independent despite the growing interest from major labels across the continent.

“I don’t want to be signed to any record label,” she stated firmly. “I’ve seen what comes with that – the restrictions, the delays, and sometimes losing your identity as an artist. I want to stay true to myself and grow on my own terms.”

Moliy, who gained international attention with her feature on Amaarae’s hit track “Sad Girlz Luv Money,” has since built a reputation as one of Ghana’s most promising alternative voices. Her bold artistic choices and genre-blending sound have earned her a loyal fanbase across Africa and beyond.

According to her, independence gives her the freedom to explore her creativity without compromise.

“I want to be able to make the kind of music I love, release it when I want to, and own my masters. That kind of freedom is very important to me as a woman and as an artist.”

While acknowledging the support and resources record labels can offer, Moliy emphasized that her focus is on building a sustainable career that aligns with her vision and values.

“I’m not against labels. I just know that right now, this is what’s best for me. I want to take my time, grow organically, and do things my way,” she added.

With her fearless spirit and clear sense of direction, Moliy is carving out her own path in the music industry — and proving that independence can be just as powerful as any record deal.
