No producer has ever requested sex in exchange for a movie role - Maame Serwaa

Kumawood actress, Clara Benson popularly known as Maame Serwaa has disclosed that no producer has ever requested sex in exchange for a movie role during her career.

During an interview on Onua FM, the actress reveals her plans to start her own production company.

“I’ve had the idea of being a producer when I decided to experience more even though I’m an actress and I know more about the job. How the directors and producers do their jobs, I want to also experience that.

“I decided to search for more so when I was in school, that’s the idea I had. When I completed school, I met with my management and told them I want to start my own production and also audition for young talents,” Maame Serwaa said.

“People have talents in Ghana but they are scared to bring themselves on board because of the things they’ve heard. People always ask whether it’s true that they’ve heard the producers ask for sex in return for roles. Because of that, some parents are scared to allow their children to start acting.

“The people and the producers I’ve worked with are all big producers and they have never and will never ask for sex for you to get a role. I don’t know what’s going on or the producers who have come into the scene that have made things change,” she said.

She said she’s committed to grooming talents to attain higher levels and do away with the perception about ‘sex for roles’.

Maame Serwaa further added that "This is the time we need to prove to people that, whatever they are thinking is not like that. If you have the talent, then why not. We can use that talent for you to be like the starts we see on the screen,”
