I Brag To My Colleagues About Being a Graduate – Davido

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, says his time at university played a key role in shaping both his personal life and music career. He shared this during a recent visit to his alma mater, Babcock University in Osun State.

The singer noted that having a degree sets him apart in an industry where many artists don’t finish school, and it gives him a sense of pride. “Babcock University shaped my career. I always brag to colleagues that I went to school and graduated. Not everyone who started school got to finish,” he said.

Davido earned his degree from the music department at Babcock University. He’s mentioned before that his father made attending university a condition before he could fully pursue music.

It was also at Babcock where he met his wife, Chioma Adeleke. Despite the academic workload, Davido managed to release several of his early hit songs while still a student.

Overall, Davido’s story highlights how education and career ambitions can coexist. His experience at Babcock University shows that formal schooling can provide both personal growth and a strong foundation, even for those in fast-paced creative industries.
