Gyakie Fires Back At Charlie Dior After Harsh TGMA Fashion Critique; 2026

Ghanaian singer Gyakie has sparked major conversations online after clashing with celebrity fashion critic Charlie Dior over comments made about her outfit at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026 red carpet. The heated exchange has since gone viral across social media, dividing fans and fashion lovers.

Gyakie made a bold appearance at the awards ceremony in a sparkling blue gown decorated with crystals and paired with a dramatic headpiece that completed the artistic look. While many fans admired the singer’s unique fashion choice, Charlie Dior gave a brutally honest review during his annual red carpet commentary, questioning the styling and creative direction behind the outfit.

In his review, Charlie Dior stated that although Gyakie is a memorable artiste, she has yet to deliver an unforgettable fashion moment. He criticised the colour selection, crystal arrangement, and especially the mesh head covering, which he mockingly described as a “decorative mosquito net.” He also took shots at the growing trend of celebrities wearing masks and face coverings on the TGMA red carpet.

The comments did not sit well with the “Forever” hitmaker, who appeared to respond with subtle but sharp shade online. Gyakie posted several photos of Charlie Dior wearing outfits that many social media users described as awkward or poorly fitted, with some outfits resembling the same “mosquito net” style he used to mock her look. The post quickly fueled reactions online, with fans interpreting it as a direct clapback. The online debate has since generated mixed opinions among netizens.

While some defended Charlie Dior’s right to critique celebrity fashion, others argued that the fashion commentator often criticises stars harshly despite not consistently delivering standout fashion moments himself. Supporters of Gyakie praised her for standing up for herself instead of remaining silent.

Meanwhile, Gyakie has clarified that her red carpet appearance was inspired by the creative theme behind her album After Midnight. According to the singer, the outfit represented the mood, storytelling, and artistic vision connected to the project, adding that many critics may have misunderstood the concept. Despite the backlash, several fans and fashion enthusiasts still ranked Gyakie among the best-dressed celebrities of the night.
