Nicki Minaj Sued for $275,000 Over Unpaid Production Costs

The "Barbz" leader is heading to court, but this time it’s over the bill for her stage lights and sound. Global rap icon Nicki Minaj has been hit with a new lawsuit filed by 24/7 Productions (USA) Inc., alleging that the superstar has failed to settle a massive $275,000 debt.

According to the complaint filed in New York, the unpaid balance stems from high-profile performances and creative work during the early stages of her record-breaking Pink Friday 2 era.

The lawsuit paints a picture of a nearly two-year-long game of "cat and mouse" regarding payment. 24/7 Productions claims that the expenses, which covered everything from her iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2023 sets to essential tour preparations, were pre-approved by Minaj’s management. However, despite repeated invoices, the company alleges they were consistently met with a standard "we'll look into this" response that never resulted in a wire transfer.

The Paradox of Satisfaction

Perhaps the most interesting detail in the filing is the production company’s note that Minaj actually rehired them for the massive Pink Friday 2 World Tour after the initial debt was incurred. The lawsuit suggests this is clear evidence that the artist was highly satisfied with the quality of their work, making the refusal to pay the previous $275,000 balance even more "perplexing" to the plaintiffs.

What This Means for the 'Pink Friday 2' Legacy

While Nicki Minaj is currently celebrating the global success of her latest album and tour, which has grossed over $100 million to date. this legal hurdle adds a layer of complexity to the business side of the "Pink" empire. Industry insiders note that production disputes of this nature are not uncommon for stadium-level tours, but the "two-year" timeline alleged by 24/7 Productions suggests a significant breakdown in communication between the artist's financial team and her vendors.

''We have spent nearly two years attempting to collect payment for work that helped launch one of the biggest eras in music today.'' - Excerpt from the 24/7 Productions Complaint.
