VGMA 2020: Ghana Crowns Kuami Eugene as Artiste of the Year

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2020 which took place despite several setbacks caused by the outbreak of coronavirus saw Ghanaian musician, Kuami Eugene winning the Artiste of the Year award.

Known in real life as Eugene Kwame Marfo, the highlife musician has serenaded his fans with hit songs since rising onto the music scene and had earlier bagged the Highlife Artiste of the Year award on the same night.

The Lynx Entertainment signee has won three consecutive years, the Highlife category in the annual award scheme and secured the top price on the night amid stiff competition from Sarkodie, Diana Hamilton, Medikal and Kofi Kinaata in the coveted category.

The night saw Kofi Kinaata also winning three awards for Songwriter of the year, Most Popular Song, and Hiplife song of the Year while Diana Hamilton picked up the Gospel Artiste of the Year award.

Medikal’s ‘Omo Ada’ won him the Hip-life song of the Year in addition to his Hiplife/Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year award and ‘Oofeetso’ by Sarkodie took home the Best Collaboration of the Year.

Sarkodie also picked up the International Collaboration of the Year with his song ‘Lucky’ which featured Rudebwoy while the award for the Vodafone Green Ambassador went to Gasmilla and George Darko being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
