Next Bond? Idirs Elba is rumoured to be taking over from Daniel Craig

Craig has previously told of his hopes to go out on a “high note” on the back of Bond 25, which is believed to be his final outing as the 007 agent.

With all eyes on the next Bond, Broccoli has now given her thoughts about the future of the franchise.

According to the Daily Star, Broccoli told director Antoine Fuqua that she feels a non-white actor in the role would “happen eventually” and put the Luther star forward as a possibility.

Fuqua said: “Idris could do it if he was in shape. You need a guy with physically strong presence. Idris has that.”

The news comes after Superman star Henry Cavill told how he also has his eye on the role.

Final: Craig is set to wrap up his final portrayal of Bond

The 35-year-old is keen to try his hand at playing 007 after Craig steps down.

Cavill believes his role as a CIA agent in Mission: Impossible – Fallout has prepared him well for taking over as the British spy.

“I would love to do it of course,” he told Yahoo Movies.

“I think Bond would be a really fun role. It’s British, it’s cool.

He continued: “I think that now that I have my Mission: Impossible badge we can do real stunts and really amp it up as well.

“Not to say they weren’t doing real stunts I’m just saying it would be fun for me to actually take what I’ve learnt on this and carry it through to a movie like Bond.”
