Watch Serena Williams Sing a ’90s Hit—A Cappella—to Kick Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Serena Williams just went topless—for a really important cause.
It’s for the I Touch Myself Project, a breast cancer awareness campaign that’s spreading the word about self-checks and early detection. It was founded in honor of Chrissy Amphlett of Divinyls, who died from the disease.
In the video, Williams shows off her singing chops with an a cappella version of the Divinyls’ 1990 song “I Touch Myself,” and damn, she’s good.
About the project, Williams says, “Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colors, all around the world. Early detection is key—it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that.” We wholeheartedly concur.
