Captain Planet breaks silence on the split of 4X4
Ghanaian hiplife musician Captain Planet, of music trio 4x4, has disclosed that their group is not dead even though they have gone solo.
There have been rumours circulating about the split of the multiple-award-winning Hiplife group 4×4 since the release of the solo hit track ‘Obi Agyi Obi Girl’ by the leader of the group Captain Planet.
Captain Planet in a recent interview on Cape FM “Entertainment Extra” said the fact that 4×4 has not been able to drop tracks does not mean the group has collapsed but rather a strategy to rebrand it.
"We just released a group song called ‘Duabo’ just to prove to the doubting ‘Thomases’ that 4×4 is still intact. We will be releasing songs, album, and videos very soon so people should watch out for it.”
According to Captain Planet, each member will release a number of singles since all members of the group including Coded and Fresh Prince are consequently pursuing solo careers. This is to maintain the relevance of their brand.
“They have their own singles. Prince has like 8 singles out. Very soon people will be hearing a lot from us. We are doing this all in the name,e of building up the group and stay relevant and keeping the brand name alive because it takes a long time for the group to release so whiles people are waiting for the group songs to come out they will be hearing solo songs,” he disclosed.
Captain Planet expressed his understanding of the public with regards to the long silence of the group but guaranteed that they are going through a revamp and hope to come back even better.
Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey better known as Captain Planet and Raphael Edem Avornyo known in showbiz as Coded with the help of Buk Bak formed 4×4 in the year 2000. Prince Tamakloe also known as Fresh Prince joined the group in 2007.
