"I Have Been Through Hell": Juliana Olayode Shares Traumatic History of Abuse and Manipulation

In a brave and unfiltered revelation, Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has pulled back the curtain on a childhood defined by survival. Known to millions as "Toyo Baby," the actress sat down for an emotional and in-depth conversation on the popular podcast WithChude, where she detailed a harrowing timeline of sexual abuse, parental separation, and spiritual manipulation that nearly derailed her life and career.

Juliana’s story is a sobering reminder of the silent battles many faces behind the glamour of the screen. By sharing her truth, she aims to break the stigma surrounding abuse and highlight the resilience required to overcome deep-seated trauma.

"Multiple Men Whom I Called Uncles"

Juliana began by addressing the earliest and most painful chapter of her life, the sexual abuse she suffered as a small child.

"I have been sexually abused since I was 5 by multiple men whom I called uncles. It happened until I was 10 years old. At this stage, my mom and dad separated despite the many times I kept asking God to bring them together."

The Hardship of the Street: "We Had to Pretend to Be Blind"

Following her parents' split, Juliana described a period of extreme physical and emotional neglect under the care of her stepmother. She revealed that she and her brother were forced into street hawking, a secret they kept from their father through fear and manipulation.

"My stepmother took me through hell, forcing my brother and me to hawk without my father's knowledge. We even had to pretend to be blind to get the day's ticket. Not until one day, my own mother saw my brother hawking on the road, and she was in disbelief."

Spiritual Sabotage and the Funke Akindele Rift

Perhaps the most shocking part of her testimony involved the religious manipulation she faced as a young adult. Juliana explained how a trusted church leader took control of her life, ultimately damaging her most significant professional relationship with superstar Funke Akindele.

"I was ab¥sed by my music teacher and also disengaged by him. The church I got into at 16 years, the pastor manipulated me deeply, took over my social media account, and even ruined my upcoming marriage, destroyed my professional relationships including that with super star Funke Akindele."

A Journey Toward Healing

Despite the layers of abuse from the "uncles" of her childhood to the spiritual leaders of her youth, Juliana Olayode stands today as a survivor. Her appearance on WithChude is being hailed as a landmark moment for transparency in the Nigerian entertainment industry, encouraging other victims of "religious grooming" and domestic abuse to speak out.

The actress, who has since reconciled with Funke Akindele, continues to use her platform to advocate for child protection and spiritual discernment.
