Idris Elba's selfie at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony with arguably "the best team in the world" has been billed as the best selfie of the year.
British actor of Ghanaian descent, Idris Elba has taken the best selfie of the year with arguably some of the world’s best football stars.
The 45-year-old was the host of The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in at the London Palladium on Monday where Cristiano Ronaldo won the men’s award for the fourth time in five years while Lieke Martens was named best female player and Oliver Giroud won the best goal.
The Luther and Dark Tower star and Arsenal fan took the opportunity to take selfies with footballers. Elba's photo features 11 of the best footballers on the planet namely Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Dani Alves, Sergio Ramos, Leonardo Bonucci, Marcelo and Gianluigi Buffon
This iconic photo has smashed Ellen DeGeneres’s selfie with Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, DeGeneres, Kevin Spacey, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong'o and her brother and Angelina Jolie (with her face half obscured) at the 2014 Oscars.

The event was attended by a host of stars past and present, including Diego Maradona, former Brazil striker Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Sergio Ramos and Harry Kane, with winners decided by a jury of a club and international coaches, media representatives and fans.
Idris Elba was born to a Liberian father and a Ghanaian mother and he even visited Ghana in 2015. He has an album with famous Ghanaian hiplife musician Reggie Rockstone.
