Fameye Expresses Disappointment Over Technical Glitches at 2025 TGMA Performance

Ghanaian highlife sensation Fameye has voiced his strong dissatisfaction regarding the technical issues that marred his performance at the recently concluded 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) on May 10, 2025, at the Grand Arena in Accra.

Speaking candidly on Hitz FM’s “Daybreak Hitz” with Kwame Dadzie, Fameye revealed that these unforeseen challenges significantly hampered what he believes could have been a standout, near-flawless delivery.

"I had setbacks that, if not for those reasons, I would have been the number one performer that night," Fameye stated, elaborating on the specific problems he encountered. "Because we had a preset and it was supposed to be played that day. What I was hearing in my voice was supposed to have been different from what the audience was hearing. And here comes the case, nothing was played."

The "Praise" hitmaker detailed the frustrating experience of being unable to hear his own sound. "I was waiting for my in-ear to play the sound. I wasn’t hearing anything, my in-ear wasn’t playing. Even my band, they could not hear. So they had to start before I joined them to sing, and because I wasn’t hearing them, you saw me take off the in-ear and I was struggling to hear what was playing from the monitors,” he explained, painting a clear picture of the live performance struggle.

Despite the technical hitches, Fameye still walked away with the prestigious Highlife Artiste of the Year award, a testament to his consistent impact in the genre. While he expressed a desire to have won more awards on the night, he acknowledged and appreciated the recognition he received, describing it as "iconic."

The incident highlights the critical role of technical execution in live performances, especially at high-profile events like the TGMAs, where artists aim to deliver their best to a massive audience and millions watching from home. While Fameye's talent shone through, his comments underscore the impact that even minor technical glitches can have on an artist's ability to fully realize their vision on stage.
