Ghana Most Beautiful Launches GMB@20 With GH¢200,000 Cash Prize, A New Crown

The launch, held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Accra, introduced a lineup of activities designed to mark the programme’s influence on Ghanaian society.

Since it began, GMB has developed into one of Ghana’s top cultural platforms, using pageantry to promote Ghanaian heritage, regional identity, youth leadership, and social development.

During the event, Mrs Akofa Banson, General Manager of 3Group under Media General Ghana, announced the prize packages. She also revealed that the winner would receive gold jewellery along with a newly designed crown.

Mrs Banson explained that the legacy project will be chosen through a community-led nomination process managed by 3Foundation, which is 3Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm.

According to her, both the first and second runners-up will be awarded educational scholarships. The first runner-up will also get an 85-inch television set, while the second runner-up will receive a laptop. She added that the 20th anniversary edition of GMB is set to be one of the most ambitious and impactful in the programme’s history. “This year’s celebration will feature major national events, cultural showcases and tourism-driven initiatives designed to celebrate Ghana’s rich diversity,” she stated.

As part of the anniversary activities, the organizers announced several events scheduled for the year. The General Manager said these include a GMB@20 special documentary, a multi-region production aimed at showcasing the country’s tourism sites, cultural heritage, and local experiences to both Ghanaian and international audiences.

She also mentioned a Royal Impact Charity Ball set for June 6, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, which will bring together corporate leaders, development partners, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders for fundraising and networking.

“The anniversary celebrations will also feature the GMB Carnival on October 4 at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.”

The celebrations will conclude with the Community Project Handover on November 28, where completed projects carried out by GMB contestants and alumni will be officially presented to the beneficiary communities,” she added.

Mrs Banson noted that the introduction of a legacy community project is meant to strengthen the programme’s social impact. She explained that communities, traditional authorities, queenmothers, opinion leaders, and development-focused organizations can submit project proposals through gmb20@mediageneralgh.com or at the GMB@20 Secretariat before May 29, 2026.
