Thomas Partey Faces Rape Charges Following Police Investigation

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, 32, has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, British police confirmed on Friday, July 4, 2025. The charges stem from alleged incidents involving three different women that reportedly occurred between 2021 and 2022.

The Metropolitan Police began their investigation in February 2022 after receiving the initial complaint. According to reports, two of the rape counts relate to one woman, three counts to a second woman, and the sexual assault charge involves a third woman.

Partey's lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, issued a statement asserting that he denies all the charges against him. She stated, "He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further."

Partey, who became a free agent after his contract with Arsenal expired at the end of last season, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in central London on August 5, 2025. Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, leading the investigation, emphasized that the priority is "providing support to the women who have come forward" and encouraged anyone "impacted by the case" or with "information" to contact the police.
