Don Jazzy Laments the "Clean Page" Obsession of Ayra Starr and Gen Z Artists

The "Mavin Grandpa" is frustrated. In a candid and revealing episode of the Who’s In The House podcast released today, April 20, 2026, legendary music executive Don Jazzy (Michael Collins Ajereh) opened up about the cultural clash he faces when managing Gen Z talent.

Despite Mavin Records' global dominance, Don Jazzy revealed that his biggest recurring struggle isn't music production or talent discovery, it’s the reluctance of his artists, specifically Ayra Starr, to aggressively promote their work on social media. According to the Don, the younger generation of stars is prioritizing the "visual aesthetic" of their Instagram grids over the commercial necessity of flooding the internet with their content.

Don Jazzy expressed disbelief at the self-imposed restrictions his artists place on their digital footprint. He noted that even his own family members in the industry are falling into the same "trap" of wanting to keep their pages sparse and artistic.

“I fight with my artists all the time because of their reluctance to post their musical contents on their social media pages. I'm also fighting with my niece, who is into entertainment, for the same issue. I don't know who told GenZ that it is not okay to post your work excessively on social media. They want to keep a clean page and don't want to post or promote themselves.”

The Ayra Starr "Imposter Syndrome"

Addressing his superstar signee, Ayra Starr, Don Jazzy revealed that she often uses psychological reasons to justify her lack of frequent posting, a claim he finds difficult to accept in a competitive global market.

“Especially Ayra Starr, who will tell me it's imposter syndrome. I’m also fighting with her for the same issue. I don't know who told them it's not okay to be loud about your work. Please, learn to showcase your work online at any given opportunity.”

A Message to Rising Talent

Don Jazzy’s frustration stems from his "old school" marketing philosophy: in a world of short attention spans, silence is professional suicide. He urged all artists, whether at Mavin or elsewhere, to ignore the fear of looking "uncool" and to treat their social media pages as 24/7 billboards for their craft.
