The Highly Spiritual Music label signee has been dragged in the mud for some days now after his song with Stonebwoy, titled “Eat”, was taken down on music streaming stores following a formal copyright complaint by Nigerian-American star Rotimi.
The official music video for the song which garnered over 150k views within the first week of release on YouTube received a copyright strike from Rotimi's record label, Empire.
Mr Drew’s management responded to the saga, saying there was a miscommunication between their team and that of Rotimi which led to the video being pulled down.
Stonebwoy also stepped in to explain that he requested to feature on the song. He admitted that he was told of the song being a cover but he had thought Mr Drew's managers were going to deal with that aspect.
Despite this, critics and online trolls didn’t spare Stonebwoy.
And responding to Stonebwoy’s drag, Mr Drew took to social media to beg critics to leave the BMG label owner out of the saga.
“Guys, this is a no, no. I have seen wrong news on blogs and news website,” he said in an Instagram video sighted by Pulse.com.gh.
“Stonebwoy blessed us with a verse for my cover song and instructed us to do the right thing by contacting the originator of the song. But my publisher failed to do that.”
“So, it’s my fault. Don’t drag Stonebwoy and Bhim Natives into this.”
